Managing Director

Craig is an international executive with more than 25 years experience in marketing, strategy and portfolio, trading and risk management, mergers and acquisitions, strategic procurement and supply chain operations. Most recently led the turnaround of Shell Australia’s Downstream Marketing businesses with a $17 billion per annum turnover, increasing annual EBIT by more than 25% in three years.

Formerly Vice President Downstream Global Projects for Shell International completing more than 50 business turnaround projects in Shell operating units across the globe, including the successful integration of Shell’s $1.8 billion acquisition of Pennzoil-Quaker State.

Craig held 9 Public Company Directorships during 2001-2013. He is a former Director of the Australian Institute of Petroleum, Nationwide Oil (a Shell / Transpacific Industries JV) and 15 Shell Group Company Directorships including Shell Company of Australia Limited and Shell Refining Australia Limited. Craig graduated from Insead’s (Fontainebleau Campus, France) Executive Leadership Programme in 2005.

Executive Director

Paul has in excess of 45 years experience in the Oil and Gas industry in Australia and the US and is considered one of Australia’s most highly experienced gas industry participants. He is the controlling director of a number of entities that make up MES JV partner, the IntelliGas Group. For the past 10 years Paul has worked on high density compressed natural gas compression and storage for heavy duty highway trucks fitted with Westport HPDI gas engines. This work was formalised in 2010 with the formation of the iGas Group, now known as IntelliGas.

Prior to IntelliGas, Paul was a co-founder COO/CEO/MD of Energy Developments Limited; established 1988 and listed on the ASX in 1993. EDL arguably became Australia’s most successful energy/gas industry innovator pioneering landfill gas power generation and coal seam methane power generation. EDL also developed Australia’s first CNG virtual pipeline including successful implementation of prime mover fueling using CNG, and LNG repowering for SECWA of the West Kimberley region.

In Paul’s early oil and gas career he was with ESSO Australia where he held various management positions with offshore oil and gas production as well as Production Manager of TMOC Resources Limited in 1986/87 with responsibility for management of oil and gas production and pipeline operation.

Paul’s has an impressive track record of delivering innovative industry changing outcomes.

Dean Mehmet


Dean is a Director of Sime Darby Industrial Australia Pty Ltd and also is Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director at Hastings Deering Group. He has more than 25 years’ industry experience, and has held Executive Leadership roles at BlueScope Steel and Shell Australia. Dean holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dean also currently holds Directorships with:

  • TFP Engineering Pty Ltd
  • Haynes Mechanical Pty Ltd
  • Energy Power Systems Australia Pty Ltd

Dean’s key responsibilities as CEO and MD of Hastings Deering Group are:

  • Develop and execute organisational strategy with safety at its core
  • Manage the operations of more than 4000 employees across four countries, 23 branches and 26 sub branches
  • Build strategic, long term relationships with customer and suppliers to establish Hastings Deering as a trusted partner
  • Actively contribute to the communities in which we live and work

While not at work, Dean likes to spend time with his wife and three daughters, travel, go cycling, listen to music and follow sport.

Geoffrey Brown Headshot

Geoffrey Brown


Geoffrey Brown is Chief Financial Officer at Hastings Deering, a leading provider of Caterpillar machinery and aligned solutions. Geoffrey has worked with Hastings Deering since January 2014. A member of the Executive Leadership Team, he is responsible for all aspects of Hastings Deering’s financial management.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Financial Management, Reporting and Treasury Operations
  • Financial Strategy and Risk Management
  • Corporate Governance and Compliance

Prior to joining Hastings Deering, Geoffrey spent 20 years with Hong Kong based conglomerate Jardine Matheson. Before joining Jardine Matheson, he worked for one of Australia’s largest mining and minerals’ processing groups, MIM Holdings (now Xstrata).

Geoffrey holds Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Queensland. He has also completed the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD in France. He is a Member of CPA Australia and the Association of Corporate Treasurers in the United Kingdom.
